Types of Therapy
-
Children & Adolescents
Childhood and adolescence are times of growth and learning! Many children and adolescents can benefit from psychological therapy sessions. Our younger generation encounters many complexities in their daily lives, from academic and social pressure to coping with other demands such as sports or extracurriculars. Youths can benefit from learning coping skills early on to navigate different areas of their lives. Learning coping skills at a young age can optimize a young person’s adaptability and resilience. In particular, if your child is struggling with symptoms from a traumatic event or anxiety, I have specialty experience in these areas.
-
Transitional Aged-Adults & Mid-Life
As adults we experience various changes in our lives, from young adulthood and beyond. This is an exciting, yet often chaotic and busy time in our lives! If you are looking for strategies with problem-solving, motivation, or setting long-term goals, therapy may be for you. In addition to college, many adults are full-time parents or caregivers which can induce stress in balancing your everyday life. Therapy can help with stress management, achieving work-life balance, and helping you nurture your valued relationships (i.e., children, spouses, friends, family, and beyond).
-
Older Adults
Older adulthood can bring wisdom, grit, and resilience! This phase of our lives can also bring physical and health-related changes. Sometimes, older adults experience various types of grief and loss. As an older adult, I know you have a vast amount of life experience. I respect your experiences, and offer a strength-based approach to help you cope with whatever situation may be triggering pain or distress. I am hear to provide a listening ear, validation, and coping strategies.
-
Special Concerns
Sometimes throughout the course of our lives, we may experience adverse events including trauma, discrimination, or losses. Some people may chronically experience long-lasting depression, anxiety, anger, or trauma-related symptoms. I understand therapy is not a “one-size fits all” approach and offer empirically based trauma-focused treatments and services for depression, anxiety, anger management, and grief therapy.
